The bastard and the bitch in the workplace

I have had a chequered career, to say the least, but I have experienced probably every kind of type in the workplace. I have seen the lothario; handsome, black hair, always talking about birds and cars and quietly able to get you some white stuff if you ask. I experienced the nymphomaniac, who is doing it with the boss, the clients and wants to do it with me. Then there is the one who is perpetually off sick, and then incompetant when he or she is actually there. There are many other examples and I am sure you can identify them, but the ones I remember the most are the bastards and the bitches.

Bastards and Bitches always seem to fulfil a low level managerial role. If not, they are on the make, and ready, at any moment, to drop you in it. Some of them even get a perverse delight in harming others. These days, the B&Bs have a great deal of protection. It is virtually impossible to sack anybody in the public sector, unless they make a politically incorrect remark. And here is my point; watch out! You do not have to be a B&B in order to suffer. Any remark you now make in the workplace, however innocent, can be picked up by someone who sees you as a rival or a threat, and there you are, accused of some kind of hate crime for a casual, off the cuff remark. An article in the Guardian today reveals that the culture in which this atmosphere prevails is still very much alive. Interestingly, many commenters on the piece held the writer in derision. See for yourself HERE.

It comes to something that a doctor can kill patients negligently and get off lightly, or even conspire to pervert the course of justice and get off, but if he or she happens to mention that you really cannot see black people in the dark, especially if they are wearing a hoodie, that's your career down the tubes.

It was bad enough before Harriet's Equality Bill became law. What will it be like now :(
