I never did 'get' Deep Purple and I find that riff a bit plodding and obvious. Now, if you want riffs, how about Free? 'I'm A Mover'? How's about that?
It might not be a great riff. But it probably qualifies as the most played riff in music shops since the mid-seventies. If you can only play on one string you can play a version of it. Music store workers start to look like Jack Nicholson in the "Shining" whenever that riff is played. Just be glad that the only "axes" to hand are Fender Strats......
