Not all posts are by Wrinkled Weasel. WW has a small cadre of contributors, each with his or her different take on things. This is not a huggy club; we often disagree with each other.
WEASEL WORDS
When people in the future face a risk that others have declared dangerous and inadvisable, it is not that they will demand the freedom to make a choice; it will simply never occur to them that they have one.
I shall be famous for fifteen minutes, but only after I am dead.
The extent to which you take yourself seriously is in inverse proportion to the extent I will.
This blog is about a balance between challenging the liberal consensus and not erroneously appearing to be from the rabid right. The problem is largely one of linguistics and etymology. Libs seem to look for trigger words in order to decide whether something is kosher or not. It's plain lazyness. And they have mangled the meanings of words to such an extent that they cannot be uttered and dare not speak their name.
Quotes I like:
Dialogue, as we are choosing to use the word, is a way of exploring the roots of the many crises that face humanity today. It enables inquiry into, and understanding of, the sorts of processes that fragment and interfere with real communication between individuals, nations and even different parts of the same organization. In our modern culture men and women are able to interact with one another in many ways: they can sing dance or play together with little difficulty but their ability to talk together about subjects that matter deeply to them seems invariable to lead to dispute, division and often to violence. In our view this condition points to a deep and pervasive defect in the process of human thought. (Bohm, Factor and Garrett 1991)
"If the structure does not permit dialogue the structure must be changed"
— Paulo Freire
"Any situation in which some men prevent others from engaging in the process of inquiry is one of violence;… to alienate humans from their own decision making is to change them into objects."
— Paulo Freire

"language is never neutral"

We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars - Oscar Wilde
We in universities are not in the democracy business. What we do, when we're doing it, is teach and learn - Stanley Fish
It is always incorrect to assume you can know what someone's moral convictions are based on their philosophical theories. - Stanley Fish
nb: I didn't pick these quotes out of a hat. I have read the books.

We also want to provide an antidote to what we are fed in the main stream media.
