As for the twins - you ask this question: "If your brother were here, which way would he tell me to go?" If it is the lying brother, he would know that his brother would direct you to the good way, so the lying brother will lie and point to the other direction. If it is the truthful brother, he knows that his twin always tells lies, and being truthful will also point to the wrong way. In either case, you simply ignore their directions and go the opposite way.

Enya wasn't too far off, then. There is a quality that she shares with Joni Mitchell, a kind of echoey luminosity, and that's what I picked up from the reverse recording.
Canaletto, sure.
Leon Russell, only thing I ever heard from him was the Ballad For a Soldier he did on John Peel once and I recorded, but the voise is unique and I should have got it.
